Walker and the "Twins" Go For a Swim

Group effort!

Sunbathing just isn't his thing!

1...2...
3...

JUMP!

So sweet...
...yet so bad!

Today was Walker's first time in the swimming pool! I can't believe I haven't put him in before now, but I have a few good reasons: 1) I put sunblock on him a few weeks ago and he had a reaction to it, so I was scared to try it on him again, 2) we really haven't been to the pool in a while, so I had no need to, and 3) I was scared to death to have Jake and Walker in the water at the same time- for their sake and mine! :) Well, I bit the bullet and tried it today anyways, and it wasn't that bad! He did great in the baby pool, but he didn't enjoy the big pool so much...maybe because big brother and Ryan were splashing him a little too much!

Speaking of Jake and Ryan, Ashley was watching them while I fed Walker, and someone asked her if the boys were twins. People ask us that all the time! I guess since they are both about the same size, blond, and attached at the hip, it's easy to think that. Too funny, and what's even funnier is that Jake and Ryan think they are twins, too!

Pre-Season Workout

Breaking down film before heading out to practice...

It is imperative to stretch before any physical activity...
...and he's off!

...it is also imperative to get really sweaty and then roll around in the freshly-cut grass!

This is Jake "boxing."
...and last but not least, it is imperative that you have a 2 minute cool down!

Back at home and ready for a nap!
What a long day!

...but this kid's still smiling!

The boys and I visited Tyson at the football office today for lunch, and Jake got in a light workout after lunch. You see, Jake is very familiar with the practice fields and equipment because any time Tyson needs to get Jake out of the house to kill some time (like after church when I'm sleeping off the night shift), they go to the office to play. I didn't realize exactly what all they did when they go to the office, but judging by Jake's ability to take down the tackling dummy, he definitely has had some practice. No wonder Jake is so obsessed with being a football player and "tackling" his friends! It has been ingrained in his head by his Daddy! Ha!

Since Walker was sound asleep in the secretary's office while we played on the practice fields, I made sure to get some pictures of him when we got home. I'm horrible at dressing the boys alike, but I thought it was only appropriate that they wear their matching football jersey shirts to the football office. Football coaches notice that sort of thing, right? ;)

Way Past Their Bedtimes...

For the last week or so, Tyson has been getting home after the boys have gone to bed. Not only does this make for really long days for me and the kids (and Tyson, too, of course), but the poor kiddos will go days at a time without seeing their Daddy. Although this is a typical schedule for football season, it gets harder and harder each year as the boys get older and get to missing their Daddy. So, as strict as I am about their bedtimes, bedtimes are meant to be broken if they can stay up and see their Daddy. :)

Showing his Daddy his hat.

And then big brother woke up and couldn't resist having his picture taken...

...too bad he wouldn't open his eyes for this shot...
...but he didn't have a problem opening his mouth! :)
What am I going to do with these boys?
Such a mess, and so happy to see their Daddy.

As we were taking these pictures, I remembered taking a similar photo of Jake at Walker's age with that Georgia hat on, so...I dug it up. Here are the boys at about the same age:

**Sorry for the lack of substance lately...I keep forgetting to take my camera when we go places. We had a great weekend but no photos to document it. :( I'll try harder, Grandparents!

Teething at 3 months?

This triple chin reminds me of a few of my baby pictures! :)

Walker is going to be 15 weeks old tomorrow! And do you know what I think I may have discovered this morning? 4 teeth!!! They aren't exactly visible, but I can see where he is trying to cut them! Crazy, huh? He's been drooling up a storm and has his hands in his mouth non-stop; I just didn't think he would be teething this young! Sure enough, I googled it, and babies usually develop their first tooth from 4-7 months but it can be as early as 3 months. Crazy!! I was thinking he wouldn't get his first tooth until around 6 months, which is when Jake got his...it just goes to show you that you can't compare the boys and expect them to be the same! Who knows, though, these teeth may be playing games with us and not actually appear for a while. Fun, fun...a teething baby with no teeth to show for it! :)

The Three Amigos x 2

Top row: Jake, Ryan, and Brantley
Bottom row: Walker (14 wks), Kaitlyn (7 wks), and Bricen (4 wks)

And again...

And again...

Just my 2.

Deputy Brantley

Every afternoon around 5 pm, our backyard is filled with babies, bouncy seats, bubble bottles, big boys, balls, and Big Wheels. It can be a bit crazy at times, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I just love our neighbors and their boys...and girl. :)

Walker's New Milestones

Well, no nap for me today thanks to my cutie pie Walker; he just wanted to spend some more one-on-one time with his Mommy while Jake napped. :) Anyways, since I'm doing such a poor job keeping up with Walker's baby book, I figured I'd blog about his new milestones so I would at least have some records of dates. Ha!

Milestone #1: He laughed!!!

Last Thursday, July 15th (13 weeks old), Walker giggled for the first time. It was absolutely adorable, too! The boys and I were sitting at the table eating dinner, and Jake was talking in a sweet voice trying to get Walker to smile at him. Out of no where, Walker busted out with the cutest little giggle! Well, of course, Jake and I started laughing, too, so it just made Walker laugh even more. I will always remember that moment...it was definitely one of the sweetest of all times!

Milestone #2: He rolled over!!!

Last Sunday, July 18th (14 weeks old), Walker rolled over from tummy to back for the first time! (I actually thought today was the first time that he rolled over, but Tyson quickly corrected me.) You see, I have worked a grand total of 3 times this month, and my sweet baby decided to show off his new trick on one of the 3 days that I worked! I can't believe I missed it! And I can't believe my hubby forgot to tell me something so important and just had to bust my bubble today when I called him to brag on our baby. Ha!

I can't believe Walker is rolling already...he's gonna be crawling before we know it! As exciting as this may sound, I am actually dreading it. The thought of two mobile children makes me nervous! Plus, my baby is already growing up fast enough...I really need for him to slow down! :)

**If you look closely in the second picture, you can see that Walker's left (which is on our right) pupil is slightly bigger than his right. I mentioned this before, but it is called anisocoria and is not abnormal in babies. Hopefully, it will go away over time. Anyways, I just wanted to point it out in case you noticed.

Missin' this Guy...

This is only Tyson's 2nd week back to work after a 4 week long vacation, and we are already missin' him BIG time...and football season isn't even here yet! I don't know how we are gonna survive the next 4 months without him. :(

Speaking of football season, click on this link for UAB's schedule for those of you interested in coming to a game. Go Blazers!

Oh, and I promise to get a new post up soon about the boys. Since Tyson has been working such late hours (which is no where near as late as it is with football season and I'm already dieing!), I just can't seem to get it all done anymore like I used to. Life with 2 kids is definitely an adjustment...a good adjustment, though! :)

Sunday Pictures

2010 Media Guide picture

I couldn't resist taking some pictures of my boys, too!

Tyson and I think the boys are really starting to look alike. Their eyes are definitely different, but other than that, they look like they might have the same nose and mouth.

Today was impromptu picture day for the Summers family! Every year at this time, we have to submit a family picture for the UAB Football Media Guide; however, this year, the NCAA decided not to print the media guides and put them on DVD's instead. Long story short, we didn't think they would include the family photo on the DVD version. Well, Tyson was told Thursday that we had to submit a photo by the end of the weekend....YIKES! Not only did I have to work this weekend (which doesn't make me very photogenic with bags under my eyes!), but I didn't have coordinating outfits ready for the boys. Are you sensing my stress here? Anyways, we just kind of threw it all together today and asked our neighbor Ashley to snap some pics, and I think they turned out pretty well! Hey, at least everyone was looking at the camera (including Walker) and wasn't making too silly of faces (aka Jake!).
