Easter Weekend

Walker and Ryleigh Kate...don't they look a lot alike for 3rd cousins?

I don't know where Tyson is, but here are the boys and I blowing out Walker's candle.

I'm so glad someone captured this; this is what Walker does anytime I'm on the floor...he comes and crawls in my lap and buries himself in me. Love it!

My nephew, Ray Charles...I mean Jace Howell. :)

Jake and Tyson went fishing once we got back to the cabins.

Jake wanted to do it "all by [himself]!"

(Jake had a much cuter Easter outfit, but he cut his finger right before this and got blood all over it.)

We love you, PaPa and Granddad!

We spent this past weekend in Thomaston celebrating Easter with my mom's side of the family. Saturday, we had an Easter egg hunt, a little birthday party for Walker, a delicious dinner, and then a little after-party at the cute, little rustic cabins my parents rented for us. We woke up today and met my parents for church, and then we came back home.

We all had so much fun! Jake said his favorite part of the weekend was seeing his cousins. :) Since the Ellis clan couldn't come, Jake had Chase all to himself and he enjoyed every last minute of it! Chase was sooo sweet to Jake...love that kid!

Since Easter came early last year and late this year, this was my sweet Walker's first Easter! My cousin Trey and his girlfriend, Holly, were in charge of helping Walker hunt Easter eggs, and he actually did pretty good! He'd see an egg, pick it up, and put it in the basket! Of course, he'd also give it a taste, too! ;)

What a great weekend it was for us! I hope you all had a Happy Easter, too!

Easter Egg Party!

Jake refused to use the little egg holders. His hands will be blue for days!

A few of our finished products.

After it was over, Jake enjoyed a little watermelon in the bathtub.

We invited the neighbors over today to dye Easter eggs with us; we were supposed to do an Easter egg hunt afterwards, but the yard was a mess from all the rain. It was still fun, nonetheless.

I was really surprised at how interested the big boys were in dying in the eggs. Jake wanted to dye his eggs only green and blue, Ryan liked a rainbow of colors, and Brantley liked the pink. It's so funny how different they all are!

I can't wait for this weekend! It is going to be so much fun! Happy Easter to all!

Walker's 1st Haircut

Before The first cut

And the after shots...
My big boy!

Ok, so I changed my mind about Walker's hair; it was time for a trim. In the last week or so, his curls started falling out throughout the day, and it was just looking so shaggy by the end of the day. And no, Tyson, the poll did not have anything to do with my decision. Especially since someone (ahem...Mike Madden) admitted to voting "yes" from 5 different computers!!

We took Walker to the Great Clips where I take Jake to get his hair cut. In fact, the same lady, Jamie, who cut Jake's hair for the first time, cut Walker's hair. Walker did pretty well and sat still until the end, even when she cut his ear! Yes, she cut my baby's ear with the scissors! She was mortified, as would I have been, but luckily, Walker didn't even flinch.

She trimmed Walker's hair up a good bit, but I don't really feel like I can tell that much of a difference. I was expecting all the curls to be gone, but there are still some curls in the back. Walker's hair is just so different than Jake's at this age; Jake's hair was so thick, fine, and straight and Walker's hair is thin, coarse, and straight/wavy/curly. Of course now, though, Jake's hair is thick, coarse, and wavy. I wonder what Walker's hair will turn out to be like??

Spring Game 2011

It was a beautiful (and WINDY!) day in Birmingham today for UAB's spring football game. The Maddens, our wonderful friends and neighbors, joined us at the game, and Ryan and Jake had so much fun together. Jake was excited to introduce Ryan to "Blaze," who Ryan kept calling "the dragon." Ha! Ryan felt right at home at the football game, so much so that as soon as the gates opened after the game, he took off amidst all these big football players to find "Mr. Tyson." It was hilarious to see such a little body next to all those really big guys...with Jake trailing right behind him, of course.

How did the game go, you ask? I have no idea!! I know the offense won, but I think I only looked up twice the whole game. I was either handing out goldfish, picking up thrown-down sippy cups, wiping dirty hands, chasing Jake, spanking Jake behind the bleachers for running away, holding/wrestling Walker, chasing Walker, looking for Jake who I've lost while chasing Walker, etc....you get my point. It was by far the hardest game I've done by myself with the two of them; I'm already dreading the season after today! ;) Luckily, though, the Maddens were a huge help and I made it home with both boys in one piece. Maybe I'll be able watch next year's game, right?

Thanks to the Maddens for coming and helping so much! And way to go, Tyson! We're always so proud of you!
