Break it down, Baby Jake!

Chase-man and Darin

Eatin' breakfast...look how grown up they are!

Ok, I know I said I was going to take a break from the blog, but I just couldn't resist posting these cute pictures. I don't have much time to go into detail, but I promise there will be more later. I can assure you, though, we are having a blast on vacation!! These pictures are from our time at the beach with my cousin Christy and her husband's family. Jake had the best time ever playing with Chase and Ryleigh Kate; we never get to spend so much one-on-one time with the kids, so Jake really enjoyed all the attention! I wish I had some pictures from our time on the beach, but I completely forgot to take my camera. I hope you enjoy these cute pictures anyways!

The Perfect Day

"Chillaxin"
Such a stud

Yesterday was almost the perfect day for our family of 3. We started the morning out at the Zoo, came home and took naps, went to the pool for a couple of hours, came home and hung out with friends, played on the slip-n-slide, and then called it a day. The only thing that could have made it any more perfect is if Mommy and Daddy would have gotten to go on a date while Jake slept, but I will totally settle for our quiet evenings at home together.

Jake is really enjoying all this Daddy-time he's gotten over the last 2 weeks. Tyson has gone into the office a couple of times a week for a few hours, and the whole time he's gonna, Jake asks "Da Da?" Poor Jake is going to be in shell-shock come football season! On that note, I am going to be taking a break from the blog and enjoying these last 2 weeks of Tyson's vacation. Grandparents and Great Grandparents, don't worry...I'll snap plenty of pictures during the break!

Slip-n-Slide

"This does not look like a good idea!""IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA AT ALL!"

Brantley was a pro on the slip-n-slide!

"Where's my Mommy?"

In true redneck fashion, we busted out with the slip-n-slide in the backyard today. Technically, it's Brantley's slip-n-slide, but we will take credit for it today since it was technically in "our yard." It was totally redneck but definitely a must for the boys; every child should experience a slip-n-slide at some point in their lives! :) Hopefully next time, though, Jake will enjoy it a little more than he did today. Maybe next time, too, he won't have an aggravating Daddy shoving him down the slide. Ha!

Lost Pictures

Playtime's over...off to bed!

I ran across these pictures yesterday, and I don't know how I forgot to post them. They were in my May folder, and judging by Jake's hideous hair cut and sparse amount of teeth on bottom, that seems about right. Either way, these pictures are so cute to me! I believe these were taken right before Jake's bedtime when Tyson had just gotten home from work. Jake knows exactly when it's time for his Daddy to get home, so he just waits by the door listening for the garage door to open. And then, it turns into playtime for a good 30 minutes while the boys chase each other around the house. Sometimes I forget who's the child and who's the parent. :) It's so cute, though, and definitely the brightest part of Jake's day (as you can tell)!

My Big Boy

Me: Jake, do you want your picture taken?
Jake: No!
Jake's embarrassed look- eyebrows raised, tongue out, dimples showing!

This morning as I was getting ready to take Jake to school, I realized that Jake's 18 month birthday is in a week and a half. I can't believe how quickly time has gone by. As I was putting on make-up, I stood there watching my little boy pretending to be a "baby" as he crawled on the floor saying "baby...baby...baby." He is no longer a baby, though, he's definitely a toddler who just loves playing a "baby" when he's being silly. And then, just as I was thinking that, he crawled up to my pajamas that I had thrown on the floor. My sweet little helper picked up my pajamas, walked over to the laundry room, opened the door, and put them in the hamper. I was shocked! Don't get me wrong, he is very good about putting up his dirty clothes once I take them off of him, but this time, my toddler was cleaning up after me!! Have I taught him well or what?

But oh the joys of toddlerhood..."No no no!" has become one of Jake's favorite expressions this week. He really isn't bad about it yet, he is just gonna let you know when he really doesn't like something. It's all kind of cute right now, but I'm sure it won't be so cute in a couple of months!

Happy Father's Day...some more!

Happy Father's Day from the Summers' Family!

Well, it's that time of the year again...time for the annual Media Guide picture. The picture above is the one I think they are going to use for the program. I can't tell you how hard it was to even get Jake to sit still for the picture, much less get him to smile. Oh well. Anyways, I hope everyone is having a Happy Father's Day! I know my sweet Jake already snuck on the blog in the middle of the night and posted something for his Daddy, but I wanted to wish a Happy Father's Day to the other fathers in our family! We love you all very much!

Happy Father's Day....

Tyson

Granddaddy

Dad

and Courtney!

He may not be with us today, but I know Andy was a wonderful father to Tyson the 3 short years that he was alive during Tyson's life. It makes me so sad that Jake and I will never get to meet this wonderful man, but it makes me even sadder to know that Tyson had to grow up without his father. I hope Jake never has to experience this. We love you, Granddaddy Andy!

Happy Father's Day!

Daddy,

I am so proud to be your son. I want to be just like you when I grow up. You are the best Daddy in the world! I love you! Happy Father's Day!

Melons, Crocs, and Diapers

Jake and Ryan...
brothers by another mother...and father.
OK...just neighbors.
If their body-building careers don't work out for them,
at least they still have their croc-modeling!

You gotta love this kid!
Ryan: "Don't mess with my watermelon."
The Three Amigos-Brantley, Jake, and Ryan

Jake got his first taste of watermelon yesterday and loved it so much that he had to have it again today. This time Ashley and I were a little smarter and just stripped the boys down to nothing but a diaper and their crocs. They had a blast! Yes, we looked like rednecks, but all the neighbors were doing it! Even Brantley stripped down and joined us for some watermelon after his nap! Only in Alabama...
**Lots of time on my hands=lots of posts today. Keep scrollin!

Vacation!

Look!! They're sharing!!
And they are playing nicely together!!...for now!

I guess my title is misleading...we're not technically on "a vacation," but we are on "vacation." You see, this week starts Tyson's 4 weeks of summer vacation. Yep, he gets the whole 4 weeks off! Don't get me wrong, though, my little workaholic does go into the office Tuesdays and Thursdays while Jake goes to Mother's Day Out, but other than that, he is here for the duration. We have a lot planned for the next 4 weeks- lots of trips to the pool and zoo, playdates, a beach trip, but just mostly hanging out the 3 of us. This is my favorite time of year!! Now if only I didn't have to work during these 4 weeks...sigh. Happy vacation time to us! 2 months 2 weeks and 5 days until football season!

Did I mention that we are gonna be seeing a lot more of this little boy in the fall? Yep, Ryan is gonna come play with us when his Mommy goes back to work in September. I am so excited to be able to keep him during the week; he and Jake are going to the same Mother's Day Out next year so I think it's going to work out well. We love Ryan so much, and besides, the boys already act like they're brothers!
