 Anderson's first Christmas!!

 Because we celebrated Christmas a day early, it was also my birthday!

Merry Christmas from the Summers!!  We had a great Christmas!  We stayed in our PJs the whole day and just enjoyed being a family of 5.  Tyson had off the 23rd (but went into the office for a few hours with the big boys), so the 24th was our first full day of being a family of 5 since Anderson was born and our first full day together since the end of July.  It was awesome!

The boys really racked up from Santa.  They got an air hockey table, a Wii, Wii games, a SpongeBob playset, an Octonauts playset, Beyblades, Tenkai Knights mini figures, Switch n Go Dinos, and a few other things I can't even remember. It was funny when they opened the Wii...Tyson had no clue they were getting one and wasn't very excited about it (he's anti-video games for kids), however, after playing it a few times, I think Tyson is more pumped about it than the boys. :)  Ha!

We sure missed being with our families this year, but we are going to see everyone after our bowl game.  Merry Christmas!!

Since Tyson has to work on Christmas day, Jake asked our elf if Santa could come on Christmas Eve.  The elf wrote a note this week that Santa would be coming then...so exciting, yet so confusing when Jake told his friends Santa was coming on Christmas Eve.  Ha!  Oh well, welcome to the crazy world we live in!  Stay tuned for pictures from "Christmas Day."

Ok, so our friends recently did a photo comparison on her blog, and it got me thinking about doing my own.  Everyone here said Anderson looked exactly like Jake when he was born, but they now say he's starting to look more like Walker.  I definitely think Anderson looks more like Walker now; the only thing is that Anderson has a lot wider face (which would come from me and Jake) whereas Walker has a longer face (which would come from Tyson).  Eitherway, I think Anderson is a good mix between his two brothers.  And I do think I'm going end up with a brunette (Jake), a blond (Walker), and black headed child (Anderson).  Ha! 

By the way, which picture collage app do y'all use?  I can't find exactly what I want.  Thanks!

Monday night, as I was straightening up from bath time, the two big boys were sitting quietly on my bed watching a Christmas movie and Anderson was in his bouncy.  Next thing I know, the movie goes to commercial, and I see Jake reach over to knock Walker down and wrestle.  Walker immediately pops up (with the biggest eyes ever) CHOKING!!!  He was grabbing his neck and pointing at his mouth and I could see it plain as day in the back of his mouth- a silver coin.  (Apparently he was playing with it close to his mouth, and when Jake knocked Walker back, the coin went into his mouth.)  Y'all, I panicked.  I immediately started giving him the Heimlich/back blows as Jake ran to grab my phone to call for help; it was just a matter of time, though, before the coin moved and my sweet boy was crying that he had swallowed it.  :(  I have never been so scared in my life...well, other than when Walker went missing at the beach. *Sigh*

Walker told me that he could feel the coin in the back of his throat, so the pediatrician said to go ahead to the emergency room that he was going to have to have it surgically removed.  I called Tyson and told him to come home and then Walker and I headed out to the emergency room shortly after.

We got in pretty quickly and had x-rays taken within the hour of walking in the door...pretty impressive, huh?  And the x-ray confirmed it- Walker had a foreign object stuck in his esophagus and was going to need surgery.  Tyson got there shortly after the news and was able to stay with us for a little while we got admitted to the hospital and sent to a room.  Unfortunately, Tyson had meetings early that next morning, so he had to head back home to be at work the next morning.  They wanted Walker to stay the night so that he could be the first surgical case the next morning.

As you can imagine, Walker and I didn't sleep very well that night.  Luckily, though, they got us down to the OR around 6:30 and got things started.  It was only supposed to be a 5-10 minute procedure, but it ended up being more complicated then they anticipated and he was back there about 30 minutes before I ever saw a doctor.  Talk about freaking out!!  Anyways, the doctor said it was a dime, which is usually passable, but it was lodged pretty good.  He said they ended up having to intubate (breathing tube) Walker and it took some maneuvering and manipulating to get the coin out.  Therefore, we were going to have to stay longer for monitoring.  (Not cool for someone who has no family nearby and is relying on friends to help with my 3 month old and 5 year old).  Anyways, it took Walker a while to wake up from anesthesia, but once he did, he was completely fine.  We got home after lunch, and by the time Jake got home from school, Walker was back to his silly normal self! :)  I now call him my little piggy bank. :)

Tyson rearranged his whole recruiting schedule to be here for Walker's program.  Walker was so surprised and so excited to see his Daddy.  :)

Walker's school had their Christmas program today.  I was really hoping for a performance like Walker gave at his end of the year program last May (click here to see what I'm talking about), but it didn't happen.  He was still cute nonetheless.  And the cutest part wasn't even part of the program...it was my sweet boy getting out of line to give him mama a big hug on the way in and out.  I sure love my little mama's boy.

I can't believe it, but for the first time in since Walker's been alive, he is not screaming bloody murder in his picture with Santa.  It's a miracle.

This past Sunday, Anderson had the starring role of baby Jesus at our church and Jake was a shepherd.  I can't tell y'all how nervous I was about having Anderson as baby Jesus.  Not only was I worried about him screaming his head off and being distracting, but I was worried that Mary was going to drop him!  You see, when our preacher asked if Anderson could be baby Jesus, I joked back, "as long as I don't have to be Mary!"  Well, that came back to bite me.  The preacher decided he wanted someone Mary's age (13-14) to play the part.  It turns out that 13-14 year olds aren't very baby savvy just yet; I literally had to have a crash course with Mary before the service on how to hold a baby.  Y'all...I can't tell y'all how nerve-wracking it was!  And we had to do it for 2 services!  Woo!  Everything turned out fine, though, and Mary and baby Jesus survived. 

Anderson did great and slept through the whole first service and woke up at the end as the preacher was giving the benediction.  The second service, however, didn't go as smoothly.  Anderson was awake the whole time and Mary had a hard time figuring out how to hold him.  Luckily, between my friend Carol and I repositioning him periodically, he made it through the whole play.  He didn't make it through the whole service, though.  Right as the last song was being sung, Anderson starts fidgeting and I can tell it's coming...he lets out the biggest scream RIGHT as the stinkin song ends and everything is quiet.  Everyone started laughing (at the cuteness I assume) and the preacher hilariously said, "And....I think baby Jesus has had enough."  I jumped up at that point and grabbed him to calm him down.  By that point, I was just so relieved that is was over.  It's a hard job being baby Jesus' mama! ;)

AAC Champs!!

 

Well, the regular season is over!!  Woo hoo!!  UCF (#15) finished 11-1 and 8-0 in conference play thus making us the AAC champs!!  We are also an automatic qualifier for a BCS Bowl, and we were just selected to play in the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona on January 1st!!  I can't tell you how excited I am about that...about all of it!  Tyson has worked sooooooo hard and our family has sacrificed so much for this crazy business, and we're finally getting what we deserve!  Thank you Lord!!

 

So, this weekend UCF played our last game in Dallas, Texas against SMU and won 17-13.  I'll try to blog about that game later if I can find some pics.  There was a huge ice storm in the area, so I'm not sure if our Rivals guy even made it to the game. Anyways, the boys and I decided to surprise Tyson at his office as he arrived home from the game.  With everything going on (the BCS bowl bid and the conference title), there were tons of fans and news crews there as well to welcome the team home.  Sure enough, the Summers boys and there sweet signs made the news.  I didn't see it, but I had several friends tell me about it.  Tyson was super surprised and LOVED his signs that Jake made. :)
