Trick or Treating: Thomaston Style

We brought the Zoo to Thomaston! Jake the tiger.
Walker the monkey.
My parents and the animals!

Can't get enough of this little monkey!

Checking out his tail!

Not a fan of trick or treating!

A happy little monkey after calling it a day!

Jake was a huge help handing out candy!

Since Tyson had to spend the weekend in Hattiesburg, MS with the Blazers, the boys and I headed to Thomaston to celebrate Halloween with my parents. We've had so much this weekend, but Trick or Treating was definitely the highlight!

Walker wasn't very fond of trick or treating. He is going through the whole "stranger anxiety" phase and screamed his head off whenever people approached him. We quickly learned to keep him back in the wagon so he could watch from a distance. ;)

Jake really enjoyed trick or treating and wasn't shy at all! He was so cute...he would walk up to the house and instead of saying "trick or treat," Jake would say "THANK YOU" before they even gave him candy! ;) So cute! Jake was also super cute giving out candy at my parents' house; in fact, I think he enjoyed that part the most. My mom said he would start yelling at people from the street, "come on" to come get some candy and then tell THEM "trick or treat" when they got to the door. So so cute! Such a fun age!

Happy Halloween! And Way to Go Blazers! We beat Southern Miss 50-49 in double overtime! Woo Hoo!

First Bath Together!

Love these two!

Walker isn't a big fan of Jake's singing!
My posts/pictures are gonna be a little scattered over the next few days; I'm playing catch-up from the tons of pictures I've taken this last week that I haven't had time to post.

Anyways, the boys had their first bath together yesterday at my parents' house. Jake has been so excited about the possibility, but I had to make sure Walker was stable enough to sit-up by himself without falling first. So far, so good! Walker did face dive into the bubbles tonight, though; I guess he was trying to eat them or something. It was pretty funny...he came up with his face completely covered in bubbles!

As you can tell by the pictures, Jake had a blast with his brother in the tub. He felt the need to serenade Walker the whole time! Hehehe! Jake also thought it was his job to bath Walker, which was fine until he decided to dump water over Walker's head. Walker is such a sport, though. Unfortunately, I think he's getting used to the harassment! ;)

Great-Grandparents!

The boys and I got to enjoy a visit today with my mom's parents. I wish I could have taken more pictures, but my eldest child wouldn't cooperate. Walker, on the other hand, was Mr. Photogenic as always. Those two boys are so so different! Anyways, we had a great time with MaMa and Granddaddy...I sure wish we could see them more often!
We love y'all, MaMa and Granddaddy! Thanks for coming to visit!

Pumpkin Carving

The boys and I carved our pumpkin today. Jake had originally picked out this awful wolf pattern (think circa 1980's fair picture) and was insistent that that is what our pumpkin would be, but I ended up carving the scaredy face instead while he was tracing the wolf! Ha! I'm a bad mom! Good thing he never even noticed after I finished!

Jake had so much fun carving the pumpkin. He wasn't too keen on cleaning out the guts of the pumpkin, but he did do a little towards the end. Of course, though, his favorite part was blowing out the candle while singing "Happy Birthday Baby Walker!" repeatedly! Walker of course had no idea what was going on, but he did enjoy sampling the pumpkin during picture-taking!

We hope everyone has a Happy and safe Halloween! We will be celebrating Saturday AND Sunday night, so I'll have lots of pictures next week!

Look Who's Crawling!

Ready...

set...GO!!

It ain't fast, and it ain't pretty, but the Walker-man is crawling! I really have no idea where it came from; he just kind of took off one day this week and has been getting better at it every day!

All I know is "game on!" I haven't been able to turn my head for a second since! Jake has been awesome about putting his toys up high and knowing which toys are "baby toys" and are safe to let Walker play with. I say that, but I also walked out of the room this week for literally 5 seconds (pre-crawling) to put a bottle up, and I walked back in to find that Jake had put a green mardi-gras necklace around Walker's neck! I almost passed out! Just when I thought I could trust Jake, I was quickly reminded that he's only 2 and doesn't know better.

I'm so proud of Jake, though. He just gets better and better with Walker everyday. Everyone has told me that it (i.e. sibling rivalry) starts getting worse when the 2nd one gets mobile, but so far, so good. I think Jake is actually excited that Walker can now actually "do something." Too cute. I PRAY it stays this way! Love these boys!

UTEP

The boys were WAY more interested in watching warm-ups!
Tifton, Georgia representin'!

No, Jake will NOT smile on command!...
...but he will smile when he's being chased by cute girls!

Yep, he's quite the ladies' man these days!

Grandmama and Jake

Headin' to the locker room to celebrate!
This picture just trips me out!

UAB beat UTEP 21-6 today! Woo hoo! Way to go Blazers and Daddy! I think Grandmama might be our good luck charm!

6 Month Check-up

Sleepy boy after a fun morning at the Zoo!
I love that he sits with one leg bent behind him....Jake did the same thing!

Walker had his 6 month check-up yesterday, and everything looks good with my little man. He weighs 17 lb 13.5 oz (50%), is 28 inches tall (90%), and has a head circumference of 17.5 inches (75%). (For comparison, Jake was 18 lb 11 oz and was also exactly 28 inches tall). Dr. D says he thinks Walker is going to be a quarterback. ;) Praise the Lord for a healthy little boy...a tall and skinny little boy at that!

Since I wrote my 6 month update, Walker has started using his new trick (sitting up from lying on his tummy) to his advantage to get around. He has figured out that if he can't reach something, he can just lay on his tummy, roll to the object, and then get it and sit up. I never knew a baby that couldn't even crawl yet could get around so much! Gone are the days of him staying put in one place!

Gator Chomp

Since Jake's "ABC" video got rave reviews from the family, I decided I needed to post videos of the boys more often. Well, I couldn't pass up the opportunity today to record Jake and the "Gator Chomp."

You see, Jake's teacher, Miss Brittany, went to Florida and is a big Gator fan. When it came time to give Jake's class a name, Brittany chose "Little Gators." Apparently, every morning the kids come in and do the "Gator chomp" and put their "gators in the pond." I still have no idea what the "gators in the pond" deal is about, but I'm sure it's super cute. Anyways, Jake is constantly doing the "Gator chomp" despite the fact that we are big Georgia fans (and UAB, too, of course). I always give Miss Brittany a hard time and tell her to quit teaching my child such bad things; good thing we love her anyway!

Okay, so go watch the video. And in case you have a hard time making out what Jake is saying, he says, "Gators....gators...CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP!"

6 Months Old

On 10-10-10, Walker turned 6 months old! Happy half birthday, Walker! And yes, Jake ran around the whole day singing "Happy Birthday to Walker." It was so sweet!

So, what's new with Walker? The biggest thing is that he can now sit up from lying on his stomach. I wish I could be more excited about this milestone; however, there are two problems with this: 1) He still thinks it is hilarious to throw himself backwards while sitting up, so it's just a head injury waiting to happen and 2) He loves to practice his new sitting up trick when I go to lay him in his crib to sleep on his tummy, so naps have been pretty tough lately!

This is how I found him when he woke up from his nap this morning.

While we're talking about sleep, Walker naps about 3 times a day and sleeps for about 12-14 hours at night, and he usually wakes up once during the night for a bottle around 4 or 5.

Walker is eating great! He is still taking about 5 oz every 3 hours or so during the day. We've tried a lot of baby foods and his favorites seem to be green beans (YUCK!) and peaches; he eats baby food 2 times a day right now.

Walker has started really "talking" up a storm. He loves to say "buh buh buh" and "muh muh muh" and even something that sounds like "hey" and "bye bye." I find myself calling him "Walker the Talker" a lot because he is constantly babbling something or just squealing in delight; he never stops talking!

Walker has a cute personality, as you can tell from the pictures. He smiles a lot and is generally pretty happy...except if he sees food. If anyone is eating or drinking in his vicinity, Walker starts grunting and fussing until he is fed and his tummy is full! I'm thinking Walker has inherited my impatience and my stubbornness...oh, and my love of food! Ha!

Happy 6 month birthday Walker! I can't believe in just 6 short months, we'll be celebrating your first birthday!
