The last few days of Jake's 7th month of life have been really rough, so we are totally excited about turning 8 months and turning over a new leaf. Long story short, Sunday morning, Jake started running really high fevers (in the 102's and 103's) that couldn't brought down by Tylenol, Motrin, baths, etc, so we ended up taking him to the urgent care center that night. He ended up having a virus (herpangina...it sounds about as bad as it is!) that left him with very painful ulcers in the back of his throat; poor thing has been absolutely pitiful for the last 4 days. Today, though, he is acting so much better and is actually eating solids again and taking all of his bottles...thank goodness! As for his new age, he is doing so much it is hard for me to pinpoint "new" things. One thing he is doing a lot lately, though, is giving the biggest wide-open-mouthed kiss you have ever seen. He laid one on Tyson last week when we visited him at work, and Tyson didn't know how to respond. I have learned to turn my head to the side and let him lay it on my cheek (especially with him having herpangina!), but Tyson didn't see it coming, and he got Tyson right square in the mouth!! It's so funny but so sweet at the same time. He is also getting very brave about the things he pulls up on, and he is doing really well at learning to stand by himself. His crawl has changed once again into a "bear crawl", which is simply by hands, feet, but no knees. And last but not least, we have another tooth!! His upper left incisor broke through today and the right one should be coming in any day now!! Happy 8 month birthday, Jake! We are so glad you are feeling better!
