UAB's Spring Game

Yesterday was UAB's spring football game, and the Blazers won! Ha ha ha. Actually, the Green team (#1 offense and the #2 defense) won, but it was really close. Tyson's linebackers played well...for the little bit that I could watch with my active little man running around. I know one of his linebackers got an interception at the end of the game, but that's about all I can tell you. Once again, Jake decided to run "stadiums" so I had to chase behind him like a crazy mama. Thus, I was unable to get any action shots, but fortunately, Coach Callaway let the families come out on the field before kickoff and let us take pictures with the guys. Jake had a blast playing on the field! He kept running up and taking the footballs as the guys were trying to throw and running away with them; he thought he was hot stuff doing drills with his daddy. It ended up being a lot of fun despite the cold, muggy weather. Man, I can't wait until fall! I hope some of you will be able to make it to some games! Our schedule keeps changing, but here is a tentative schedule for the fall:

Sept. 5 vs Rice*
Sept. 12 vs SMU*
Sept. 19 @ Troy
Sept. 26 @ Texas A&M
Oct. 1 vs Southern Miss*
Oct. 17 @ Ole Miss
Oct. 24 @ Marshall
Oct. 31 @ UTEP
Nov. 7 vs Florida Atlantic*
Nov. 14 @ Memphis
Nov. 21 @ East Carolina
Nov. 27 vs UCF*

Go Blazers!

Happy Easter!

For some reason, I have writer's block. I guess it may be because I worked last night and I am exhausted! Either way, we are very thankful for today. He is risen!

Easter around our house wasn't very exciting today. I ended up sleeping half the day, and Tyson was too sick to take Jake to church. He had Jake dressed and ready to go to church and all and realized he couldn't do it. What a disappointment. Next year, I am DEFINITELY not working the night before Easter!

Jake enjoyed his goodies that the Easter Bunny brought him! He wasn't too thrilled with the bubbles, though, as you can tell from the pictures. Oh well. Take note Easter Bunny...no more bubbles...just stick with balls!

Happy Easter!

Happy Birthday Tyson!

On April 11, 1980 at 6:09 pm, Tyson made his grand entrance into this world weighing a whopping 9 lbs 1 oz. I was 3.5 months old at the time (ha ha), but I'm pretty sure he was already bigger than I was at that time! Poor Mrs. Mary Ann, she was already several weeks overdue at the time and then she had to birth that big boy! It was definitely worth it, though...at least for me! :)

I'm not going to embarrass Tyson by writing mushy stuff on here...I'll save it for our date tonight! :) I'll just simply wish you, Tyson, a Happy Birthday to the best... (in no particular order):

1) Husband

2) Father

3) Son
4) Friend

and 5) Coach...ever!

We love you! Happy 29th!

Love,

Your "soulmate." Sorry...inside joke.

Easter Egg Hunt

It seems like everyone is having an Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday (our school, church, neighborhood, etc), and since we will be at Tyson's Spring Game that day, I wanted Jake to have the experience anyway. So, we planned a little get together with our neighbors and the boys had a blast. Ryan was unusually fussy (due to a missed nap for the event) and Brantley slept through it, though, but Jake was good. He actually even shared some of his Easter eggs with Ryan and didn't push, hit, or scratch him at all! Needless to say, it was a good day! Tyson even came home a little early to join in on the festivities! So much fun! I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend!

Sidewalk Chalk

Can you say "pot belly?"

We had to take a break and visit the neighbors' dog, Max.
Max refused to be photographed.
Flirtin' with Mrs. Ginger!

Finally some warm weather again! Jake and I celebrated this beautifully warm but windy day by breaking in our new sidewalk chalk. Jake took the "breaking in" literally...the first thing he did was to stick the chalk in his mouth...typical! Once he figured out that the chalk wasn't for eating, he really enjoyed it. In fact, he had so much fun drawing on the driveway that he decided to decorate our front door and everything around it!

15 Months Old!

Yesterday, Jake turned 15 months old! I know I probably say this a lot, but he is really growing up fast! His vocabulary is really increasing; he says a new word almost every day! He has even started saying "Peeezzzzz??" (which means "please") and it is absolutely adorable! Here are some other really cute things he is doing now:

  • The first thing he does when he wakes up is yells, "Mama!" at the top of his lungs. After about 5 "Mama's" and if I'm still not there to get him, I'll hear "Da Da?"
  • Have you noticed the foot up in every picture? I have no idea what that's about, but it's Jake's new "thing" to do when I pull out the camera.
  • Jake is very good at identifying all of his body parts, but he gets so confused between where his eyes and ears are. If you ask him, he'll point to his nose. If you repeat yourself and ask him again, he just gets frustrated and shoves his finger up his nose. Nice.
  • This one just melts my heart...before Jake takes a nap or goes to bed, I'll read him a book and then sing to him as I rock him. He used to always face outward, but lately, he's been turning towards me and laying his head on my chest and staring his pretty little brown eyes up at me. It never fails, one of us will do something to make the other one giggle, and then we both just start dieing laughing. I love it. It's the sweetest feeling in the world.

I always think long and hard about these posts for days beforehand because I want to be able to remember everything Jake is doing at the different stages in his life, but I always forget and leave something out! I'm really gonna have to start writing this stuff down! Anyways, Jake is just getting cuter every day. I'm learning how to deal with his "agressive behavior" and it seems to be helping...some.

We aren't going to see the pediatrician until the end of the month for his 15 month check-up, so I'll be sure to post his stats after that. Have a great week!

Spring Scrimmage #2

UAB held it's second scrimmage of the spring today, and Jake and I HAD to go see Daddy coach and the team play! I am so glad we went; it turned out to be a beautiful day and the scrimmage ended up being really exciting!

Tyson has been asking me to take some pictures for recruiting purposes, but I explained to him how hard it is take pictures AND pay attention to Jake. Sure enough, if we were in the stands, I would snap a picture and then turn around to find Jake climbing up the bleachers. Or if we were next to the field, I would snap a picture and then turn around to find Jake running onto the field! Get my point? I was a nervous wreck! Needless to say, there won't be too many action shots taken this year if my husband wants my son alive by the end of the game. So enjoy the pics and have a great weekend!

Jake usually either ignores me when the camera comes out or tries to take it away from me, so I was shocked today when he gave me a little photo shoot in his "Good looks courtesy of Mom" shirt! He was such a ham! He just kept smiling and making the funniest faces so I snapped away! I hope y'all enjoy! Happy April Fool's Day!
