Today was Jake's school's church Easter Egg Hunt...does that make sense? He goes to school at a church, but Tyson and I haven't decided if Jake's school is where we want to go to church or not. Or did I just make it even more confusing?
Anyways, we went to an Easter Egg Hunt today, and despite the 90 degree weather, we all had fun. Tyson couldn't go, though, since he had to work, so it was a little chaotic at times with both boys by myself.
Walker's group (age 0-2) went first. With Walker being 9 days away from turning 2, he definitely had an advantage over the younger ones; he also had another advantage besides age...his big brother. I told Jake that he wasn't allowed to pick up eggs with Walker's group, so Jake basically thought it was his job to teach Walker how to run around really fast and pick up as many eggs as he could. And if Walker wasn't fast enough, Jake guarded the eggs until Walker could get there. Ha! I'm sure that sounds pretty obnoxious, but there were more than enough eggs to go around; in fact, there were some eggs leftover in the end. It was so dang hot, all the parents were trying to get their kids out of there ASAP. Anyways, it was actually pretty cute without being too overbearing for the little ones. I was proud of their teamwork. :)
Jake's group (4 year olds) went next. Talk about crazy...as soon as they blew the siren, those kids were off! I took my eyes off Jake for a second to fiddle with Walker, and when I looked up, I couldn't see Jake for the mob of people. So scary! Luckily, like with Walker's group, the crowd cleared out quickly since people were trying get out of the heat. And finally, there was my sweet Jake, sweating like crazy but trying to "win the race" (as he called it) and get the most eggs.
After my little panic attack, I grabbed the boys a snow cone and headed home for the AC and our pool. So so so much fun...well, except for almost losing my child. I'm pretty sure that'll be the last Egg Hunt I do alone!
